Japanese Art Sound Archive: Masako Shibata, AFFECT-GREEN Performance, 1976
The Japanese Art Sound Archive organized a reenactment of Masako Shibata’s 1976 AFFECT-GREEN Performance and produced a video. Shibata started her “Affect-Green” series with AFFECT-GREEN (1973), which involved drawing a green belt on the museum floor, and explored the affective relationship between humans and objects through various means, such as paintings, installations, and performances, through the 1970s.
In the AFFECT-GREEN performance, three participants took turns to appear. First, Shibata performed solo, followed by the vocalist and the percussionist. These sound recordings were overlapped at intervals at the end. Toru Inoue (OLTA), Aoi Tagami, and Ryotaro Miyasaka participated in this reenactment, which was the first since the original performance in 1976.
